Jace Walters Recreation
Jace Walters is a 17 year old competitive shooter from Elyria Ohio, with National awards in both firearms and archery. Jace has not just competed in Ohio, but Nationally and Internationally in 17 other states and provinces as well. Jace has also been an Honor Roll Student since the beginning of 5th grade, mom and dad said if he didn't maintain good grades that he wouldn't be able to miss school to compete.
In 2017 Jace started competing in the Ohio Archers Association (Ohio NFAA Series) and finished 3rd in the shooter of the year in the 11 and under male bow hunter class. 2018 brought Jace 3 State - Shooter of the Year awards as well as competing in his first National event. Then the following year in 2019 Jace earned his first archery national podium at the First Dakota Class in Yankton, SD; then earned another two national podiums that year. In the years to follow Jace traveled all around Ohio, the U.S.A and Canada competing and earning multiple state, national and international awards.
Because of an archery related injury that began in the early spring of 2022, Jace had more time to practice with his firearms. And what do you know, he wasn't half bad shooting a pistol. That turned out to be a good thing to know, since Jace was forced to hangup his bow at the end of 2022 to avoid long-term damage to his arm.
In 2023 (and again in 2024) Jace won the Glock GSSF - CMP National Challenge (Junior Division) at CMP Camp Perry Ohio. With Jace's continued improvement and success with firearms, the decision was made to attend the 2023 Glock Annual Challenge at CMP Talladega, Alabama. That was a wise decision as Jace finished on 5 of the 10 amateur podiums, and won the Amateur Civilian Division by finishing 1st out of 134 and became a Glock Master Class Shooter at the age of 15.
In 2024 Jace began competiting in the Scholastic Action Shooting Program, this was done so that Jace could compete interact with other youth competitors like he had done for years in archery. In his first year Jace proved to be the number one centerfire pistol shooter in the State of Ohio, and earned Runner-Up divisional National Champion in Centerfire Pistol Iron.
To become a more rounded competitor in firearms as he was in archery, Jace was looking for firearms related training that he could attend. At the age of 16, Jace became the youngest Glock Certified Armoror. Now Jace has the knowledge to work on his and his dad's Glocks. Looking to 2025 GSSF will again be the bulk of the schedule, followed by an increase of USPSA matches. Then during the summer the main focus will be Civilian Marksmanship Program Nationals as well as SASP Nationals. Then filling out the schedule with various other steel, paper and action shooting outlaw matches across the region as time and funds allow.
