Jace is a national podium level archer that travels all around Ohio, the U.S.A and Canada competing in archery tournaments. Jace is lucky to have the support of 3 archery ranges that believe in him, and each have helped us out tremendously. Rich Hardway is the owner of Black River Archery (Elyria, OH), this is Jace's primary indoor range. Jace started shooting archery with Rich in 4H, then transitioned over to Black River Archery Team the following year. When it's time to shoot outdoors Jace goes to The LaGrange Hunt Club (LaGrange, OH), there he can shoot as far as he needs to on bag or 3D targets. The LaGrange Hunt Club is a great no drama shooting and hunting club to belong to, they do a great job of involving the youth members that want to carry on their traditions. Then when we travel south Billy Lawson of Archery World USA (Fairfield, OH) helps us out. Whether it just be providing Jace a place to practice / warm up for events in southern Ohio, do an emergency repair to Jace's bow, or hosting archery seminars that we attend; Jace gets treated as if he is a regular active member of their S3DA team even though we only make the 4 hour drive for tournaments.
Jace came a long way in 2019 as a competitive archer mostly because of how much work he continues to put in, despite shooting a kids hunting bow. In August 2019 Jace shot up a class (14 & under) and won the Ontario Association of Archers - Ontario Field Championships, placed 3rd at The First Dakota Classic in Yankton, SD which was his first national podium, 4th at the Marked 3D National Championships in Redding, CA in addition to numerous 1st place finishes and Shooter of the Year rankings around Ohio within multiple shooting organizations. Jace also made the Honor Roll every grading period since 2018-Q1, he knows the only way he would be able to miss so many days of school to compete in archery is if he has great grades. The 2020 season is a transition year for Jace since he is now shooting the 14 & under class, not only is he young but he is tiny. But because of this Jace stepped up his training and podiumed at all 4 State (Ohio - USA Archery, JOAD, NFAA & S3DA) Indoor events to start the 2020 season. And well it might also have something to do with Jace's new bow that he shoots, it's the PSE Perform X SD. Yes Jace is finally shooting a real target bow since one was finally made to fit his short draw length.
