Jace grew up at motocross tracks thanks to his older brother Fin who raced pretty much every single weekend, sometimes up to four different events in a given weekend. Jace had to wait till he turned 4 to be allowed to race too, and raced for 8 years. Jace was better than average for a few years winning series championships in motocross, flat track and off-road racing; but he lost the passion needed to push himself after his motocross idol Todd Krieg #531 became paralized.
At the age of 5 Jace shot a bow for the first time. He liked it, but it was just something to do for fun when we didn't have a dirt bike race to go to. At the age of 8 Jace took archery in 4H Shooting Sports, and it kept his interest enough that at the age of 9 he got his first real compound bow (Bear Apprentice 2). A month later in 2017 Jace started competing in the Ohio Archers Association (Ohio NFAA Series) and finished 3rd in the shooter of the year in the 11 and under male bow hunter class. During that first season of competitive archery after having watched a video of Matt Stutzman 'The Armless Archer', Jace then decided that he wanted to become the best archer in the world.
In 2019 Jace earned his first national podium, at the First Dakota Class in Yankton, SD; and earned another 2 national podiums that year. Now Jace travels all around Ohio, the U.S.A and Canada competing in archery tournaments. In order for Jace to compete like he does, it takes some serious dedication on Jace's part and financial support from sponsors and supporters. Jace does physical fitness workouts Monday - Friday to get stronger and to avoid injury, he keeps his grades up having made the Honor Roll every grading period since 2018-Q1, he flings a LOT of arrows in practice, understands and works on his own equipment (with help at times).
Because of Jace's love of archery, in November 2018 he started up his own yard service business called www.JaceWaltersRakingAndMORE.com after his dad lost his job of 15 years. Jace did this in order to help his parents help him be able to compete at the level he wants to in archery, because he knew there would have to be a lot of cut backs on spending. He did his first leaf raking jobs borrowing a rake and tarp, did a few jobs and bought his own. Got hired to do a much bigger leaf raking job, and luckily the homeowner let Jace use their electric leaf blower. After that job Jace bought a leaf blower and 150 feet of extension cord with his dad and started doing even bigger leaf raking jobs. Now Jace's additional 'and MORE!' jobs include Picking Up Sticks, Weed Pulling, Spreading Mulch, Grass Cutting, Trimming / Edging, Cleaning Up After Your Pets, Snow Shoveling, Holiday Light Take Down & Setup, Gutter Cleaning , and MORE!
